The *Landlord Armed Forces Charter* is part of the *Homes at Ease* project, an innovative, trauma-informed housing solution for veterans across the North West who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Delivered by *Armed Forces Community HQ CIC* and funded by the *Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust*, *Homes at Ease* offers private landlords the opportunity to provide more than just accommodation. You can offer a new start, a sense of belonging, and a chance for independence.
What is Homes at Ease?
Homes at Ease is a trauma-informed housing initiative that follows the Housing First model, prioritising stable housing as the foundation for recovery and growth. We work with landlords, supported housing providers, and local authorities to deliver sustainable, affordable homes to veterans, backed by tailored, wraparound support.
With a focus on long-term tenancy success, the programme provides:
- A place-based approach with local Visiting Support Officers
- Access to supported housing, social housing, and the private rental sector
- Ongoing wellbeing and tenancy support based on each tenant’s goals
- Peer mentoring to combat isolation and build resilience
- Dual diagnosis expertise for those with complex mental health or substance misuse needs
- Continuous professional development and training for partners
Why It Matters
When service ends, the transition to civilian life can be difficult. For many, it means facing housing insecurity, mental health challenges, or navigating complex systems without a support network. But given the chance, veterans are resilient, motivated, and ready to rebuild, they just need the right start.
Through Homes at Ease, we remove the barriers that often prevent veterans from securing a stable home and help landlords feel supported every step of the way. The results speak for themselves:

How to Get Involved
Becoming a Homes at Ease landlord is simple, supported, and meaningful:
Intro Chat – Let’s get to know you and your property. No pressure, just a conversation
Property Readiness – We’ll assess the property, assist with basic furnishings, and ensure it’s tenant-ready.
Tenant Match – We’ll pair your property with a veteran from our waiting list, based on needs and compatibility.
Tenancy Setup – Financial support and benefit claims are managed in advance. Rent is guaranteed for six months.
Ongoing Support – From day one, our team offers wellbeing visits, life coaching, mental and physical health support.
6-Month Review – We assess stability and extend support where needed. Tenants who are ready take on full responsibility.
