A Safe Space to Talk, Heal, and Recover

Struggles with alcohol, drugs, or other dependencies are more common than many realise, especially within the Armed Forces community.

At Armed Forces Community HQ, we offer confidential, judgement-free support for veterans, serving personnel, and families who are experiencing issues with drugs, alcohol, or other addictive behaviours. Whether you’re worried about your own use, concerned for a loved one, or unsure if you need help at all — we’re here to listen and walk alongside you.

Support That’s Built Around You

Our experienced team — many of whom have lived experience themselves — offers guidance, encouragement and tailored support for those struggling with substance use or addiction. Depending on your needs, we may provide:

  • A safe and private space to talk about your concerns
  • Screening and support planning
  • Referrals to local clinical addiction services or detox programmes
  • Emotional and mental health support, including counselling
  • Help accessing recovery-focused activities and peer support groups
  • Family and relationship support where substance use has had an impact
  • Guidance around housing, debt, benefits or employment if needed

We work in partnership with trusted local organisations, NHS services and charities, ensuring you receive the right support in the right place.

Small steps, Big change

We know that reaching out can be the hardest part — especially if you’ve tried before, or feel like you’ve let others down. But we also know this: you’re not broken, and it’s never too late.

Our team is here to help you feel safe, supported and seen. Whether you’re thinking about making a change, just starting recovery, or already on the path — there’s a place for you here.

What Support Can Look Like

FAQS

Got a question?

Is your support confidential?

Yes — completely. Anything you share with us stays between you and the support team, unless there’s a serious safety risk. We respect your privacy and your story.

Not at all. You can come to us at any stage — even if you're just starting to think about making a change. Early support can make a big difference.

We don’t provide medical detox in-house, but we can help you access local services that do, and support you before, during, and after the process.

Absolutely not. Many of our team and mentors have experienced relapse, and we understand recovery isn’t always a straight line. You’ll be met with compassion, not judgement.

Yes. We offer wraparound support for housing, mental health, family life, and more. Everyone is welcome here — whatever stage you're at.

You’re not alone

Whether you’re taking the first step or the next one, we’re here. No judgement. Just support, understanding, and a place to begin again.
