Social Inclusion

Belonging Starts Here

Many people from the Armed Forces community experience loneliness and social isolation, often linked to the transitions, upheaval and losses that military life can bring. At Armed Forces Community HQ, we understand those challenges, and we’re here to make sure no one feels left behind.

Social inclusion is at the heart of everything we do — from creating welcoming spaces to offering meaningful activities that build confidence, community and purpose. Whether you’re looking to meet new people, rediscover old passions, or just feel a bit more like yourself again, our doors are open and the kettle is on.

Events & Activities at Molyneux House in Wigan

Molyneux House in Wigan is a vibrant hub of activity. Open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, our HQ offers a regular timetable of groups, drop-ins and opportunities to connect. From craft sessions and shared lunches to creative workshops and quiet spaces, there’s something for everyone — and everyone is welcome.

Our **NAAFI Café**, a social enterprise run with and for veterans, is open every Monday, Friday and the last Saturday of the month. It’s a space to grab a brew, meet friendly faces, and feel part of a supportive community. Volunteers are always on hand to greet new visitors and help you find your feet.

To request a copy of our current activity schedule, just get in touch. We’re happy to talk through what’s on and how you can get involved.

We also partner with local initiatives such as **Models for Heroes** and the **Molyneux Community Collective** to offer even more opportunities to connect, create and grow.

Trips & Outings

We know how powerful shared experiences can be. That’s why we organise regular group outings throughout the year — giving members a chance to make memories and strengthen friendships in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Past trips have included visits to the National Memorial Arboretum, the Preston Military Show, and more exciting opportunities are planned — including a future trip to Europe. Whether it’s your first time joining us or your tenth, you’ll be made to feel welcome.

Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteering can be one of the most rewarding ways to feel connected — giving something back while gaining a sense of purpose and belonging. At AFCHQ, we have a wide range of volunteering roles available to suit different interests, skills and time commitments.

You might help out at the café, lend a hand with maintenance, support others as a peer mentor, or get involved in community outreach. Whatever your role, you’ll be part of a team that values your contribution and supports your growth.
