On Monday 22nd June 26, we were proud to support the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (RAEI) with the donation of a new Union Flag during Armed Forces Week.
Following storm damage to the hospital’s previous flag last winter, one of the Trust’s Armed Forces Champions contacted Armed Forces Community HQ (AFCHQ) Project anger Wendy Walters, who were delighted to donate a replacement.
In the sunshine, representatives from AFCHQ and the Royal British Legion joined the Trust in the Veterans’ Garden to present the flag to Chief Executive, Mary Fleming who said. “The new flag will now be proudly flown at the front of the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary as a visible symbol of the Trust’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community”
Laura Ingham, Managing Director of Armed Forces Community HQ, said:
“This donation is a testament to the close working relationship we have with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and their continued support of the Armed Forces Covenant and Veteran Aware accreditation. We all agree that collaboration is key, and we are incredibly proud to support the Trust in the borough where AFCHQ first began our mission.”
AFCHQ’s mission is to create a thriving, connected and respected Armed Forces community where every individual has the support, tools and opportunities to live a healthy, secure and fulfilling life, today and for generations to come.
We are proud to work alongside organisations that share this commitment and look forward to continuing our partnership in support of veterans, serving personnel, reservists and their families.
Our sincere thanks go to everyone involved in making this possible.
